Cauliflower Burger Recipe

Easy to make Cauliflower Burger Recipe – super tasty and healthy burger alternative perfect for cooking on a BBQ or on the stove!

I have definitely had a good share of BBQ’s in my life, both before I went vegan and after and burgers have always been something that was part of a good BBQ party with friends or family, so this Cauliflower Burger Recipe is the perfect healthy alternative to ‘plant-based-meat’ burgers.

Ever since going vegan I’ve moved the burgers more into my regular cooking routine, rather than waiting for sunny weather and the next BBQ party, therefore started to create more diverse burger recipes for every occasion. I have had plenty of bean burgers but to be honest: they are not the easiest to create, as they can fall apart if done wrong. However, this lovely creation that is the Cauliflower Burger however is as easy to cook as it easy tasty to eat!

It’s also perfect for anyone going vegan or looking for a low carb alternative, just leave out the bun or replace it with a low carb option!

If you love vegan burgers as much as I do, you’ll be glad to know that I’ve got loads of other (often less healthy 😉) burger recipes that I’m sure you’ll love. Click here to take a look at my other vegan burger recipes

The tastiest things can sometimes be the simplest to create! Such as this super delicious cauliflower burger that I made for the first time a few years ago.

As you will find in this recipe, a crispy burger does not always need to mean plenty of breadcrumbs (and carbs!) and and oily mess as I have used hemp seeds to create the crunchy goodness of this burger.

The spices I have used in this recipe are simply some of my favourites, there are so many options that you can experiment with! For example, you could try seasoning this one with your favourite curry powder, turmeric and some black pepper?

But don’t let me keep you too long from this recipe – I am sure you’re getting hungry already 😉

How to make this Cauliflower Burger Recipe

To start with, wash your cauliflower and cut it into slices. These will act as your burger or pattie.

Next, take a large mixing bowl and blend the milled linseeds and chickpea flour along with the plant-based milk and use your chosen spices to season the batter to your liking.

Now, on a shallow plate or bowl mix together your hemp seeds along with the spices. This is going to give your burgers a nice flavourful crispy crunch! When they’re mixed, flip your cauliflower burgers in the flour before covering them in the batter.

Pro Tip: Be sure to let the batter drop off the burgers before pressing them into the hemp seed mixture on both sides.

Once your burgers are covered, transfer to a hot pan and fry them in oil on both sides over medium heat for 8-10 mins or until they crisp up and are hot in the middle.

When your burgers are cooked through and crispy, serve in gluten-free burger buns with a generous dollop of Mr Organic Tomato Ketchup!
