🌱 Ingredients & Notes
Here is everything you need for this recipe:
- Pizza crust - Use store-bought or make your own for a fresher taste and the perfect crispy crust.
- Jackfruit - As my vegan chicken I used Nature’s Charm BBQ Jackfruit. It comes in 200g tins and is perfect as a pizza topping as it's super delicious, tender and already packed with flavor - so convenient! Check Amazon or your local Asian food store for all vegan Nature's Charm products. Jackfruit is a great source of fiber, naturally gluten-free, vegan, and soy-free. You can also use plain, tinned jackfruit and add your own seasonings.
- Red onion - Thinly sliced for a bit of crunch and flavor.
- Red bell pepper - Thinly sliced, adds sweetness and color.
- Pineapple chunks - Adds a sweet and tangy contrast, make sure to drain well.
- Vegan cheddar cheese - Shredded, melts wonderfully in the oven. Alternatively, you can use vegan mozzarella cheese
- Fresh parsley or fresh cilantro - Chopped, for garnish & added right before serving the pizza.
For the vegan BBQ sauce pizza topping:
- Tomato ketchup - Base for the BBQ pizza sauce.
- Apple cider vinegar - Adds tanginess to the BBQ sauce.
- Brown sugar - Sweetens the BBQ sauce.
- Smoked paprika - Adds a smoky flavor to the BBQ sauce.
- Garlic powder - Enhances the flavor of the BBQ sauce.
- Onion powder - Adds depth to the BBQ sauce.
- Salt and black pepper - To taste, for seasoning.
Tip: For a spicy twist, sprinkle some red pepper flakes into the tangy BBQ sauce!

🔪 Equipment
Here is all the equipment you need to make this recipe:
- Pizza stone or baking sheet - A pizza stone helps achieve a crispier crust, but a baking sheet or a pizza pan works fine too.
- Rolling pin - For rolling out the pizza dough. Ensure it's well-floured to prevent sticking.
- Small saucepan - For making the BBQ pizza sauce.
- Flour - For dusting the surface when rolling out the dough.
- Knife & Cutting board - For slicing the red onion, bell pepper, and pineapple chunks.
- Large spoon or ladle - To spread the BBQ pizza sauce evenly on the dough.
- Oven - Preheated to 220°C (430°F) for baking the pizza.
- Pizza cutter or sharp knife - For slicing the finished pizza.
- Cooling rack - To let the pizza cool slightly at room temperature before serving.
- Airtight container - For storing any leftover pizza slices!
Extra Tip: You can bake your pizza on an upside down baking tray in the middle of the oven - this is a great way to get a crispy crust without using a pizza stone or pizza pan.

❄️ Storage
Got some leftover Vegan BBQ Jackfruit Pizza? No problem! Place the leftover pizza slices in an airtight container or wrap them tightly in food-safe aluminum foil. Store them in the refrigerator for up to 3-4 days.
How to reheat
- Oven: Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Place the slices on a baking sheet and bake for 5-10 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and bubbly. This method keeps the crust crispy.
- Microwave: Place a slice on a microwave-safe plate and heat for 30 seconds to 1 minute, or until heated through. Note that the crust may become softer.
- Stovetop: Heat a non-stick skillet over medium heat, add the pizza slice, cover, and cook for 2-3 minutes. This method helps keep the crust crispy while melting the cheese perfectly.

📖 Recipe Card
Vegan BBQ Chicken Pizza
Ingredients
- 1 pizza crust store-bought or homemade
- 1 tin Nature’s Charm BBQ jackfruit 200g
- ½ red onion thinly sliced
- ½ red bell pepper thinly sliced
- ½ cup pineapple chunks 50g
- 1 cup vegan cheddar cheese shredded (100g)
For the BBQ Pizza Sauce:
- 1 cup tomato ketchup 200g
- 2 tablespoon apple cider vinegar
- 1 tablespoon brown sugar
- ½ teaspoon smoked paprika
- ½ teaspoon garlic powder
- ½ teaspoon onion powder
- Salt and black pepper to taste
For Garnish:
- Fresh parsley or cilantro chopped
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 220°C (430°F). If you're using a pizza stone, place it in the oven now. This will ensure the stone is thoroughly heated, making for a crispier pizza crust.
- On a floured surface, roll out your pizza dough to your desired thickness. Remember, the thickness of the dough will affect the baking time and final texture of your pizza.
- Combine all the BBQ pizza sauce ingredients in a small saucepan and place it over medium heat. Stir the ingredients until they're well combined, then let the mixture simmer for 5-10 minutes. The sauce is ready when it has thickened. Let it cool slightly before using.
- Spread a generous amount of the BBQ pizza sauce onto your rolled-out pizza dough, leaving a small border for the crust. Then, add your toppings, starting with the sliced red onion, bell pepper, BBQ jackfruit, and pineapple chunks. Finally, evenly distribute the shredded vegan cheese over everything.
- Carefully transfer your assembled pizza to the preheated oven (or onto your preheated pizza stone, if using). Bake for 10-15 minutes, or until you see that the crust is golden and the cheese is melted and bubbly.
- Once your pizza is baked, take it out of the oven and let it cool for a few minutes. Sprinkle your choice of fresh herbs on top for added flavor and aesthetic appeal.
- Finally, slice your pizza, serve it, and enjoy your homemade vegan BBQ Jackfruit Pizza!
Notes

- Reheating:
- Oven: Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Place the slices on a baking sheet and bake for 5-10 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and bubbly.
- Microwave: Place a slice on a microwave-safe plate and heat for 30 seconds to 1 minute, or until heated through. Note that the crust may become softer.
- Stovetop: Heat a non-stick skillet over medium heat, add the pizza slice, cover, and cook for 2-3 minutes to keep the crust crispy while melting the cheese perfectly.
